It's completely legal for tanks to go into citystreets, as long as they have RUBBER tracks, not metal ones.

That is true. In most of the German society, everything that has the slightest glint of having to do something with military, weapons or other "martial" stuff is frowned upon. Because of that people like elyisantrooper are often viewed as weirdos or even risks to society. Being a sports shooter I know this in another way from my own experience.

But in the end being a weirdo is much more fun opposed to being "normal", and it's a great thing people who are into reenactment, costumes and 40k can meet up online and talk about their hobby [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

Concerning the issue with the tracked combat vehicle, what elyisantrooper says is right. It is practically impossible to get a street licence for a tracket combat vehicle. I researched the issue about 10 years ago, and back then there was a "workaround" which is basically not possible to do for a private person. If I remember it right It involves "demilitarizing" the vehicle (of course removal of the gun(s), replacement of the armor around the engine and driver's seat by thin paper or something like that), and if you want to move it from one location to the other you must get a permisson so the state knows ecactly where the tank is at which time.

One big difference is museums. They are allowed to have battle tanks (although I think their cannons are disabled?). There's a technical museum in Germany (Sinsheim / Speyer) where several fully functional battletanks from WW2 are on display. Reminds me I have last been there much to long ago [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' />

Elyisantrooper, I've always seen you as ambitious, what with always working with full steel and such, but this really takes the cake. Awesome stuff!

Thanks...;-)

"replacement of the armor around the engine and driver's seat by thin paper or something like that), "

Its allowed to weld in max. 3mm standard steel sheet (no hardened steel) in the removed parts, at the ferret this was front(driver), backside(engine/cooler) and both sides (cut of the emergency hatches behind the storage boxes)

Today I start the work at the frame for the turret.
I fix the ringmounts left/ right, the later carrier for the cannons to see how the dimensions work.
The frame I had done, is to big in high,,it does

Today, after two years, I put the first time all four cannons in place...I reduce the high of the turret, in the way I had told here yesterday.

Now it works and looking great, I mean...;-)
Without the trailer

Then mounted on the trailer plattform

Hello Ladies and Gentleman, I get some Items by post delivery...
First the targeting system....

Then the drive for the movement of the cannons (up and down)

I will modify this winch for that. Pulls 1800pounds (rolling) more than enough for this use...

And then I bought two power packs at the car parts store.
Every pack with 12V/ 62Ampere. Will later feed the movement of the rotation(one pack) and the up and down(one pack.

Was a very expensive start in this month...

My mind, it is blown!
Some truly awe-inspiring work! I wouldn't have thought of anything like this being done on a personal scale at all, I am glad to be shown different.

Also, might seem crazy, but I'm envious of your cold temperatures! It's up around 35-40 Celsius here at the moment.
