I believe it's called a thumb hole grip. It's seen on the P90 and the HK SL8, though in the SL8 it's integrated into the stock.

Yep, thumb-hole stock.  I thought he meant the fore-grip.  By the way, Magpul has a RIS fore-grip at a 45

Please tell me that not everyone agrees with the mindset of that site...

Basically a bunch of gun/military propaganda and some principles that I don't agree with in a major way.

Stormchaser... the British and the Americans are never going to see eye to eye on the subject of firearms... but it's a culture thing. I'm fine with it- but I know many- like yourself- that are not. I wouldn't worry about it.
...just be glad they're on our side! [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

That reminds me of an interesting conversation I had with a mate who moved to the states. He said "All other countries have been forged BY war, where America was forged IN war."

Aww, you Brits are just so goshdarn cute!

Bam.  The new AFG I mentioned above.  Haven't tried it yet but I can't wait, it looks like a really exciting idea to me.

Magpul calls their marketing "propaganda" as a tongue-in-cheek jab at the liberal gun-grabbers in America.  They really do make good stuff, but it's all aftermarket components for fighting rifles and they were founded by former spec ops personnel.  I'd be surprised if I didn't see that kind of attitude on their site, and I'd also be surprised if the majority of the British military didn't agree.  Remember folks, as George Orwell never said, "We sleep peaceably in our beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf."

The big one is the right to keep and bear.  Have you lived in California the entire time?  I know they are considerred heavily anti-gun in their laws.  For example where I live:

1)  If someone breaks into my house I am allowed to shoot to kill.
2)  Given valid reason (for example a while back there was a rash of car thefts in my neighborhood) I can get a permit that allows me to carry a gun on me at most times (there are certain places that are exempt from the carry permit, mostly government buildings and places that serve alcohol, though private property owners can ban guns on their property).
3)  In regards to #1, my wife actually had a police officer she worked with (he worked as a security guard where she worked in his off hours) offer to teach her how to fire a shotgun.  And he specifically told her what ammo to keep in it for home defense (I believe the exact quote was "If you use shot, it will kill the intruder and embed in your wall and when the cops show up you will be fine.  If you use a slug, it might pass through the wall and hit someone outside, then you would have a problem.")
4)  I am currently sitting less then a mile from at least two stores I could walk in and purchase said shotgun with nothing more than cash and a state issued liscence and then stick it in the trunk of my car to drive home with it.

I live in Michigan.  Modify wookieegunner's points by the following:

1)  no change
2)  I need no reason to obtain a CCW permit.  Michigan is a "shall-issue state" and so must issue a CCW permit to anyone not legally barred from being granted one.
3)  #4 shot is the ideal for self-defense in a shared-wall environment.
4)  I'm in a somewhat rural area so the stores are further away, but we don't need any kind of license or registration to purchase a firearm in Michigan, we just need the money and to fill out a BATF form 4473.

America - fuck yeah!

personally i don't mind guns, they are like most things, respect of them is needed, and mostly because of texas as an example of crime rates.. they kind of work.

bad people can find guns with or without the law, i know this from personal experience of having a guy mug me with a very real gun in england before i left.

if you let good people have guns too, the bad people are less willing to whip theirs out also, because you don't know whos packing.

the one bad point i've seen of allowing gun ownership, crimes of passion are dangerous.

because i live in california, i would not own a gun.. why? because i know personally a man who emptied a .22 pistol and several rounds of buckshot into a home invader who was coming at him with a knife, and got sued by the intruder.
if he had actually killed the intruder however, there would have been no problem.. it's the fact the guy survived, and then sued, that is stupid.

i don't know if i could kill someone,
if you own a gun in california, and need to shoot it, you had better empty the whole thing into whom your shooting at and not let them live, because otherwise you were in a controlled state of mind when you shot, and not afraid for your life.

which is grounds to sue...
i love the US, but sometimes there are some really stupid things going on.

Virginia at least,
no problem getting a concealed permit if you really want one
However va is an Open carry state,
meaning, barring schools, airports, etc,
you can legally carry a firearm anywhere you want as long as its in plain site  (and as long as the place dosen't have a "no firearms" sign posted)
(and your not being stupid, waving it around, etc)

Michigan is the same as far as open carry, the one hitch being that once you've got a CCW permit you can no longer open carry for some odd reason.

capt palladorus

as currently serving british military personell i not only agree with this statement, but i absolutly LOVE magpul kit!

they make some seriosuly awsome aftermarket gucci kit that is SOOOOOOOOOOO useful its scary LOL

and i can kind of see why the UK doesnt allow people to bear arms, cause i know plenty of civillians who would have gone on a spree by now
