Finnlock's Laspistol
« on: January 30, 2010, 04:11:00 AM »
Well while I was waiting for stuff to cure I made a quick Holster for the laspistol I have been working on.
Honestly I was suprised how large it is, but that's fitting really, it's not totally crazy big, just kinda.

The holster is unpainted and not finished at all. The body is black craft foam, the white detailing is thinner craft foam. It holds the laspistol snuggly and dosen't seem to "scrape" it at all.

The laspistol is the same one I posted before, just did more work on it, it's puttied and sanded now. I'm liking the way it's coming along. Needs to be painted and finished up of course, but I think it's headed in the right direction.

Okay, here are some wip pics..

Wow Finnlock. That's looking great.
The white detailing on the holster really makes it look Warhammer-ish.
Nice one!

Suggestion:  Leave the holster outside for a week or so.  Some place where the sun can hit it every day and it will have more of 'time worn' or 'weathered' look to it.

Looks great so far.  I may end up mooching some tips out of you for the giant bolt pistol holster for me SM armor.

nice work!
i have to admit i can still recognize the nerfgun, but only just, but you've done a stunning job changing the shape around, will you leave the skull white or make it metallic?

PS, i've shifted these posts to a brand new topic, as we should try to keep threads on topic with the original posts.
also, aside from the possible derailment of seraphs thread, you should show off your work properly, rather than hide it in someone elses thread, since you've done so well. [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

Yes, you can still see the nite finder...it's that grip, I think if I filled in the ribbed section and cut away some of the trigger it would help a lot. But I'm not *that* bothered by it. Perhapse if I make another I will do that.

I'm not sure what I want to color scheme to be.. Because it's for a commissar, I'm thinking red, black and gold... I'm probly going to paint the skull as I really don't like the way it looks now, to happy and ginning.

i tend to look at things in a "how did they do that" way anyway, and i don't really think it's a bad thing, the tools you use and the bses you build from are fine.
its when people dont even try to change the shape i cringe...
yours looks like a laspistol, and thats a high cut above most people who pickup a nerf gun do, bravo.

what're you using as filler for the edges?

Coat was bought new last year at a store called Square One, was discounted and cost ...wait for it..... a wopping $25.00

I buy her tons of cool coats..mostly becouse it's very, very hard to find cool mens coats that are uner $500.00 and I have a bit of a coat/jacket fetish..

And thanks for noticing the laspistol [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

Lol, look at that second picture, and you can tell that the pistol is twinlinked!

All kidding asside, I prefer your more "broomhandle-mauser-y" design over the stubbier one.

Found a corset for the female commissar costume to go with the laspistol I made

What do you think?

I think Toydivision might have a rival for the awesome female commissar look. Though these particular commissar might have a hard time dealing with distracted guardsmen... =P
