I'm not Brash, but I know a little about casting metal. The RTV silicone molds can take the heat of low temp metal (RTV can take 500-600 degrees, this is what the new silicone oven mitts are made out of), but the heat will tear up the mold pretty quick. You need to make the walls thcker to handle the extra weight obviously, and one trick is to pre-heat the mold before you use it. A room temperature mold can cool the metal fast enough that it won't fill in the cavities before it turns solid.
Hopefully I can get the little bugger made... I think reading this thread, and some others here, I am confident enough I can make up a few more of this and some other pieces, which is all I needed. Thanks! And beautiful work again Brash!
