Yes most automatic weapons could do that but we're talking about airsoft guns. If you're bringing a real gun to a con I doubt you'd bother with zip tying the trigger anyway....And without a battery an airsoft gun is a big gearbox with metal and plastic all over it.

I can think of quite a few automatic firearms that would still fire when "peace-tied" as soon as you inserted a magazine and pulled the charging handle...
And just WHY would you want to bring one to a Con and do that?

I wouldn't of course, just thinking that if airsoft guns operate anything like a real firearm (which I know the electric ones don't, but the gas? maybe) then tying the trigger isn't exactly effective.

Gas blow back rifles work similarly to real firearms but I'm not sure if they're that close. In any case, getting them in the US is about as hard as buying a real automatic weapon and I for one wouldn't want my $300 airsoft gun and $50 mag getting confiscated because I felt like going all Rambo on some Heretics and Clone Troopers.

I've seen a Stormtrooper and a Mando friend of mine get tossed in a squad car and their guns taken and not returned, despite obeying con regs, because the cop though they looked real or some BS.. Last I heard, items not returned.

He was probably a fan of the Rebel Alliance and wanted the guns for himself.
That wouldn't happen over here. If I ever make it to DC I am worried about bringing any weapons with me!

@Erus, what state was that in?  It's always important to know your local gun laws even if your guns aren't real.

@Capt., you'd probably be ok at DC in Atlanta, but I'd never take weapons of any kind to the Left Coast.

I see so many guns at Dragon*Con without peacebonding or orange tips.
