I may go back in and put just a small touch of gold on the aquillias wings. The small, riveted rib on the outside edge. Just to give it a little something something. I'll see when I get the torso painted and can hang both pauldrons. But moving on, I've started painting on the biceps and elbows. I'll try and knock them all out at once. The only other outstanding pieces yet are the right hand glove and forearm. And... I still have to build the damn thighs. That will be at the end, I'm enjoying painting too much. Along the way, I had been replaying some missions on space hulk and ran across a piece of gear I hadn't noticed before. The iron halo that you get at the end of 1 of the missions. I had made provisions for the rams skull but didn't notice the halo. I knocked 1 out of PVC and scraps of foam in about 2 hours. Here it is

I was a little worried about the gold lettering showing up against the metallic background. Once I grunge washed it and everything darkened up I knew the bright gold that I planned on using to highlight would make it pop.

I also switched gears and decided to use a different 3d printed ram's skull. I had bought this awhile ago and couldn't make up my mind between this and the one I printed. This one is a little smaller but has filigree decorations that I really liked.

The rectangle box at the top houses 4 LEDs. The clear 1 is a blinking yellow for low level warning for something. I thought the copper would give it some punch and lend an old world technology vibe to it. That's all for the moment. Stay tuned, the finish line is in sight...

I had some green leather and lion head buttons left over from the belt buckle and shins and I thought I'd add some more detail to the cables than just steel bands. The blk/yellow and orange hoses are just spray painted corrugated wire loom that you can get from just about anywhere. I did give them a coat of flat black to give the colors something to stick to. Next is the book. This went pretty quick as there isn't much to it

Got some progress to share on the thighs. I started building from scratch and got a good chunk done. Looking at them in comparison to the shins, I realized I flaked when I made the relic shin. I didn't include the gears on that side

These thighs are split and Velcro together at the inside groin area. Otherwise you'll never get all your armor on with the pelvis going on 1st. That's something to think about when you guys make your armor, whether it be terminator or space marine. The Velcro got hot glued on and I also glued some canvas on the backside where it wouldn't show. I stitched through the canvas, foam and Velcro to give it a mechanical bond also. It was already peeling after a few openings and closings

The lines at the split don't line up, but it's in-between my legs and you won't notice it. Just have a little left to paint then batteries, wiring and fitment. Stay tuned for more...

Got some wiring progress to report. Wiring, battery mounting and a few extra details finished. I made some little brackets out of sheet aluminum to hold the batteries. I wanted to be able to remove the battery packs in order to charge them. Here they are

The brackets got mounted to some PVC foam board to act as a spacer. I wanted to mount them below the fans and they would've been setting on the screw heads for the fan mounts. Any way, all the wiring got cleaned up and mounted to bulkheads and double checked as I went to ensure functionality. I didn't want to do this twice. It was pretty cramped working inside the torso.

You can see the fans above the batteries. They're centered on the rear louvered vents. I positioned them to draw inward and blow on my back and shoulders. They have their own dedicated battery/switch and should get about 3 hours run time on the 12v battery. The LEDs have the same setup. I haven't figured out the run time for those yet.

I'm thinking I'm going to add on an augmetic eye lense on the left side and make it part of the mask. Something with a clear blue lense. Nothing lighted, there's enough going on in there with all the other lights. I also want to make some sort of skull cap/helmet type headgear to buckle the breather mask to. I've got a few ideas, just have to flesh it out. I'd like to get this armor standing on the display mannequin to see the whole enchilada. Gotta clean up in the garage 1st. This was made using some heavyweight cardboard tube, Eva foam and some scrounged bits from my work. I also had a buddy at work lazer out some different size, round plexiglass pieces from leftover blue Plexi sheet. This actually sets pretty good on my face. Managed to knock out the psychic hood and how to attach the breather mask. I didn't take any pics in process, probably should have. I made the templates from scratch for the beanie shaped helmet. I covered my head with sheets of tin foil and taped it with blue painters tape. I drew a centerline with a sharpie and cut it in half. I sectioned off what I thought would be acceptable for a couple pieces and flattened them out. Some needed a few more relief darts to help. I traced them out on foam and flipped for the other side. All glued together, it actually fit really good to my head. Tip of the hat to "Odin makes" on YouTube for that one. Anyway, I added all kinds of cables and an aquilla on the forehead and a couple skulls, well because skulls. The breather mask is attached to the helmet by 2 snaps on each side by the ear to an aluminum bracket. Here's all the dope

Here's with the breather snapped on. The foam skull is a bit smaller than my head so it doesn't fit quite right. It fits me fine and stays put and doesn't slouch forward like I thought it would.

Now the thing is, I'm not sure if this whole rig will fit inside the hood with me wearing it. I know it's kinda close in the top and was trying to keep it thin on top. The breather out the front might be close too. I'll have to try it out with some help. If it fails, I have another couple options. I scored some templates for some jawline enhancements and an augmetic eye that can be attached with spirit gum like the movies use. Again, the ill fitting foam head. I had to stuff a sweatshirt in the neck to hold it all up. I have an idea for some of the reflection points on the helmet too. I'm going to use some glow in the dark paint along some of the pieces and cables. The blue light should make them pop. Most of the helmet will be steel colored with a few accents on some of the connections and maybe some copper thrown in for good measure. Stay tuned for more...

The small diameter wires are actual wire, the bigger 1s are foam dowel. The connectors are real deal just painted. The phone pics don't do the weathering justice. There's a lot of grime and verdigris on the copper connections. And if you noticed, the main wire bundles coming out of the side of the helmet just terminate at the rear. The was no way all of this would fit loose in behind my neck in the 2 holes in the rear bulkhead. I'll just run the 2 breather hoses back there. Besides, most of it you won't see anyway. It just has to look the part. I tried some of the glow in the dark paint on some of the wires and fittings and the aquilla on the forehead. It didn't glow as much as I'd hoped, but I'll leave it on anyway. I've also started stacking on the body parts to the mannequin. I'm all the way to the main body. Just have to make some extensions for the arms at the shoulders. This pose able mannequin doesn't bend quite right like a human does. Stay tuned for the finale...

Still working on gearing up the mannequin. I've spotted a possible problem with the thighs. They're going to have to be cut down some on the upper rim on the inner thigh. They hit the diaper and can't go high enough to sit right. We'll see what happens. Anyway, got some fun pieces knocked together that will hang from a gold rope on his waist.

Couple things to notice. I add the chain across his chest from pauldron to pauldron with some of the goodies. Also the shot with the rear LEDs you can see a big chunk of foam unpainted. That's for display only. It's keeping the whole torso and pauldrons from tilting backwards on the mannequin. I started carving on the thighs to get them to fit. May have to do a little more surgery then fix the paint on the rims. I'm still figuring out a couple little brackets for the gold rope the droops between the hip armor plates that runs side to side. Then I can hang some more of his relics. I hope in the near future to get this outside to take some better pics where the light is better and not so close quarters. Stay tuned...

So, with all the items on the list to finish up, I've also started on another plasma cannon. This 1 is old school like the Deathwing minis wield. It's not as ornate as the first one I built, but just as big. I'm making it out of xps foam and card stock to keep it as light as possible. I learned my lesson on the first 1. This will have lights only, no sound. All the extra electronics and batteries add weight. No pics at the moment. I did however manage to knock together a breast medal for the front of Nicodemus ' armor. It's called The Order of the Lion (sounded good in my mind anyways haha). I hade some 3d printed bits and leftover foam board and went to work
