Space Marine WIP
« on: July 11, 2021, 12:07:46 AM »
Hi there,
my name is Kevin and I am from germany. I am working on my space marine but I am not satisfied. Are the propotions right? As you can see on the pics there is something not right about the legs ( I think so). Without stilts I look like a cartoon character what´s funny but not my goal.
It would be great if you help me out.

For the emperor!

Kevin

What scale did you use for the pieces? Sometimes scaling down a little sacrifices size for usability. Most of the bigger scale suits use stilts or risers of some kind. Your knee has to be at the armors knee and have to make up the difference in between with your risers. The thighs you will have to adjust length wise and maybe around. The diaper could be a little smaller diameter wise and waist also. The painted shoulder looks bigger than the other height wise. How did you or how are you going to mount the shoulders? I've seen people mount theirs a little higher and take some material off the bottom to help get rid of the T-rex arms. Also a lot of them don't use the bicep parts, you don't see it anyway up under the pauldron. If you have to size your pieces down, you can cut a strip out of the back where it won't show the seams as much and tailor it in . Have a look  at Pileruds thread here on the forum and it may give some ideas to help. I haven't build a space marine armor yet, mine is a Deathwing Terminator but am planning 1 right now. Good luck on your build, you're almost there. And keep posting your progress!

I used the files from the library. Yeah I already read his thread that´s why I am doing this :D
Okay then I will rework the legs completly. The upper body looks okay? Jepp I will not use the bicep parts and I´ll mount the shoulders a little higher.
Waist will be reworked,too.
Shoulders are same size but bad point of view.
Thank you very much for your help :)

PS: nice a terminator - next project incoming xD

Good day Kevin
The Adeptus is right.
The problem is on the scale. What is your height?Templates are at 170-180 height.
I would not disturb the biceps completely, the shoulders rest on them.Only the upper half and part of the hull.
Otherwise, I agree with Adeptus.

look at my post
there is a photo of the feet. The knee must be at the joint.
I do not use stilts in my shoes, but hardened polystyrene.I'll stick my shoes on that.

Thank you sir!
I worked on the legs. They (the thights) should be narrowed a bit, shouldn´t they?

Good job. Boots are looking good.
I would personally keep the thighs as they are.
When you're gonna be walking the lower part of the shorts are gonna be obstructing your movement.  I personally would get rid of the shorts.
Easier way : look at the picture

thank you brother!
I worked on the legs but seems to me that I have to upscale the knees a bit because when moving there is a gap.
I will do it like you suggest with your pic.

You don't have to upscale the knees necessarily. Your under garments will fill the gaps. Like ribbed cuffs or whatever you're going to use. I used black material and  stitched foam rod to make my ribs, that way it's soft against your skin. You can make it big like the inside size of the knee and thigh and use Velcro to secure it in.
