Eldar Striking Scorpion
« on: May 01, 2017, 11:48:34 AM »
I decided to have a go at building an Eldar Striking Scorpion recently -  the photos attached show the progress on the helmet build  which I'm fairly pleased with (as a beginner!)

Will upload the chainsaw and body armour pics when I get a chance - the build is  is still very much a work in progress!

That is looking really good, don't think I've ever seen a Striking Scorpion suit before. Will be interesting to see.

Shoulder and chest armour photos attached - I'm trying to get the Eldar Striking Scorpion rune repeated on the armour where possible but I am also using a scorpion design I found online as well to decorate the armour.

I've more or less finished the chest / helmet now so there's a first look below. I'm fairly pleased with sticking to the green with silver colour scheme for now - I may add some gold in at a later date. Would welcome any feedback - some of you will probably see that the helmet has not yet got the scorpions famous Mandiblasters but I'm still figuring out a way of doing this without it looking like I've glued a couple of plastic bottles to the sides!
Next up the chainsword which is almost complete!

For sure you will do amazingly and the helmet will look like Scorpion one.

Love the green it remembers me to Sons of Horus seagreen and the texture of the color is truly amazing

There are some build photos for the Scorpions chainsword below.

I started out with a fairly light and shorter looking design for the sword, but decided it simply had to be bigger and more brutal looking. After all - why should all the Mon-Keigh have the best and most brutal looking chainswords!

So I scaled up the build a bit to make the weapon broader and longer. This has been by far my most favourite piece of the overall costume to make so far.

I've used the scorpion motif again and had a go at some basic weathering to show the sword has been well used.

Last photo is of me holding the sword for scale.

Thanks Abaddon - I wanted to repeat the scorpion again but it was a bitch to cut out of the foam!  :)
