Loyal Sons build
« on: October 31, 2016, 10:06:14 PM »
Hey all,

I wanted to share some photos of my first build.  Since it was my first SM build, I kept things simple and didn't opt for a lot of detail.  I also used my own chapter to avoid any cannonical errors.  I ended up using an old Nerf gun because my bolter got permanently damaged.  Long story, very tragic... ;D
Most of the pics were taken at the first annual Kingston Comicon last weekend.  I've included a link for the rest of the photos for those who are interested.

I was battling a very dangerous xenos on LV-426 when I was pounced on by 2 of these clever beasts.  With a mighty swing, my chainfist bit deeply into the face of the first creature, felling him.  As I raised my bolter towards the second, it side-stepped and lashed its tail at me.  The bolter took the brunt and was cracked in two.

All joking aside, it was my poor balance that broke it.  One of my ninja-like cats snuck into my studio while I was working on the costume and her tail went under my foot.  As I switched balance to avoid crushing her, I ended up falling on the bolter, ripping the foam in half.  I might be able to repair it, but I think it's best to start new.

Ah yes. Dangerous Eldar xeno creatures cats are. I had one nibble toothmarks into some paper pattern pieces of a backpack.

Very nice looking armour. Can you share the helmet file? I'm having trouble finding a pep file.

Pepakura file is here in the library.  Top of the page, and dig through the helmet link.

Wow...   Looking back at this, I see just how rough it was.  Since then I've made a number of changes and figured I'd update a photo or two.  There were a number of changes to the legs, weapons, and internals (cooling/fans).  Taken at OCC 2017.

That power maul is on point, fantastic build. You did a lot of good work from your first iteration to the new one, looks great.
