Because the lasgun does not have a pistol grip, this gives it that typical rifle stock base. Rather than go through the tears of attempting to scratch-build the stock, around which the rest of the weapon will take shape, I have opted to use an existing .22 rifle stock.

Now whether or not this is going to work I do not know. Until I receive the stock I'm not really sure about how appropriate its size is, as well as the shape of the butt. Hopefully the rest of the stock will be adequate around which to build the rest of the weapon.

Anyway, this is the first cost at £15 plus postage. I'm sure there'll be more!

So apparently the greatcoat (along with the trousers and boots) are exactly the same as those issued to other Krieg infantry.
It is manufactured on Krieg, provides limited protection and is heavily impregnated against chemical and biological attack.
It is double-breasted and includes brass buttons, a pair of which allows the coat's front to be turned back for greater mobility in combat. It's collar bears the regimental tag stitched to the coat.

There are plenty of coats available online, I have opted for this one:

Boots... boots are brown, boots are military, end of. Found these fashionable beauties online - 50 year old swedish army boots. These'll do and I don't need to mod them at all. They may not be high enough, but I'm gonna get some puttees so they should remedy that.

Lasgun slowly progressing - starting to lasercut card model pieces (same 2D drawings to be used later to replace card with foamalux?) and vacuum-formed barrel cooling shroud. I think the cooling shroud needs to be longer so the overall weapon length is greater, it just feels a bit short at the mo.

Ah, now I'm thinking I need to change my mind with this kit. I reckon I should go for the quartermaster instead.
Does this look like a better costume than the grenadier?
Don't think I've seen a quartermaster anywhere.

Yep, definately going for the quartermaster.

Any of you seasoned players have any suggestions for how I go about making the skull mask to go over the gas mask?

What advice do you The Collective have for materials to use for the carapace and shoulder armours? I keep seeing 'Eva' foam mentioned?

So here are the four card models leading up to a suitable design for the laspistol. I'm kind of happy with the last one - does it look okay?

And the piece of hardwood I'll use for the core and grip. Maybe it should be all metal looking weapon, but I reckon there's nothing more Steampunk than Warhammer 40K so I want a properly finished wooden grip to go against the rest of the weapon.

Coming along slowly, part-shaped the grip and progressed with the card modelling. Once I'm happy with the sizing and that all  the panels fit I'll knock em up out of 2mm MDF I think.

DKoK Quartermaster
« Reply #13 on: July 12, 2015, 03:48:32 PM »
All Krieg guardsmen wear a gas mask, but they are not all the same it would seem. The mask worn by the quartermaster differs from the rank and file guardsman by having the hose to the re-breather coming out from the left-hand side. There is also a fitting on the right-hand side. So, I am assuming that there is no fitting on the front of the mask like the other guardsmen.

So, after much searching online I have found this mask which might do.

It looks proper gimp dodgy, but once the skull mask is over it I should look less like a sex-case.

Well its coming along nicely I reckon. I've started cutting the MDF panels and other little bits of detail. Still a way to go though, but looking like it might work.

Ive interpreted the vertical slot feature near the trigger to be a magazine release catch so knocked that up out of softwood. Above that is a switch for selecting single or continuous firing.
