Hello all.

New to the forum, not so new to cosplay. I'm freshly done with a Destiny Hunter cosplay and have decided on the Sister of Battle as my next endeavour! I've been told this is where the experts are, so here I am.

I plan to use the same general idea for the AS breastplate construction as I used for this past one (because let's face it- if it ain't broke, don't fix it!).

Prior to the Hunter costume, I've never really taken a foray into armour making (I'm a seamstress, mostly), but it seems I have a bit of a knack for it, so I've decided to go with something completely armour intensive. I plan to use a combination of EVA foam, Worbla's Finest Art, and Worbla's Art Deco, since those are what I used for this past cosplay and I'm semicomfortable with using them.

I'm basically looking for tips on things like joints and shinguards. Also, what sort of "undersuit" to wear? And is there an easy way to either craft or acquire props? I was thinking a bolter to keep things simple but I haven't been able to really find much of a tutorial on them anywhere.

Any help/leads are appreciated!

Been working On my SoB now for a bit. using pretty much the same as you on materials. joints are simple depending on what version of art or mini you are trying to stay true to. Some sisters only have shins and Gauntlets on arms and legs. Others have thigh and bicep armor which then adds to the necessity for worrying on  joints. So if you could share with us what version you are going to try and do would help.

As for bodysuit I am currently looking at a few styles. From a shiny latex to a pleather type of material. It again all depends on your tastes more than anything. I recommend doing the body suit as a shirt and pants for convenience more than anything. you will be hydrating alot on this costume and may have needs that two pieces will make so much more simple.

Yeah, I did the Hunter undersuit as top/bottoms and it worked well, though I was still rather warm. I'm considering incorporating a camelbak into the backpack to stay hydrated, as (I'm sure you know) thermoplastic and foam don't tend to breath well.

I'm actually a 40k player (Tyranids -> Chaos Marines) so I'm pretty familiar with the different variations of the armor, it's all a matter of which  looks best and what I can find the most info on doing. I'm going to be crafting a good part of this while laid up recovering from knee surgery... I've already started setting up a couch level workspace.

Hope your Recovery from the Knee surgery goes well. Please share progress and your own ideas as your go through it. I hope my thread may be of some help as well. One idea I am looking into is going with a cool shirt system to help keep my core at a better temperature. Basically it is a shirt with tubing in it that gets hook up to a small cooler. in the cooler is ice water and a pump to circulate the water through the shirt tubing. Racers use this in a full body system, but I am figuring the torso area only may suffice for us since we are not in 130 plus temps for 3 hours.

I am also looking into just using my leggings and arms in the pleather looking material. attaching arms to a very breathable material or even to an under armor shirt. I need to get back to working on mine as I took a break leading up to Dragon con and now that is it over it is time to get back to it.
