Inquisition color schemes for armor?
« on: March 16, 2014, 07:57:17 PM »
I've been looking around at a lot of reference images (miniatures, concept ar and renders from Space Marine.) for a proper color scheme for armor and robe/loincloth. In particular an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor.

I am planning out a Power Armored Inquisitor. I've seen several minis and rather liked the idea of a Battle Inquisitor. I just can't seem to find a description of the suitable colors. I'm leaning towards black with gold accents, white for the skulls also.

Can anyone shed a better light on the color schemes for me?

So far as I recall myself, the iconic is dark recess with golden highlights, but thats for Inquisitors in general.

It depends I feel, on how you feel your inquisitor does buisness. Are they open and ardent, striding through the middle of the battlefield, a shining paragon of faith in the Empero, meteing out His Justice as you go. Or do they prefer to be caustious, not advertise thier presence and paint thier armour red so thier own, and the enemies blood, doesnt show too easily. Or perhaps the colour of the armour indicates where it was made and by whom, Mechanicus Red with cog-esque scroll work to the trim.

Artifacts and embellishments though, can be done as you want. Are the skulls actual skulls, or cast in electrum. Would they be painted to be highlighted and spur fear in the hearts of your enemies, or to disguise mechanisms or features of the armour.

Sorry if this throws a spanner in the works!

No worries on that spanner. I can make use of it.

This is a good bit of insight on the issue. I believe this will help out my build greatly.

I'm thinking a human sized Crusade armor as a base. Then I'll add the symbolism of the Inquisition and some other touches to make it more my own. (Within reason) I am planning on a Heavy Bolter with power pack as well. Not too traditional for an Inquisitor but it fits my story. I am a member of Ordo Xenos who prefers the heat of battle and fighting alongside the Adeptus Astates in lieu of the cloak and dagger intrigues of most Inquisitors. He seeks to stamp out the enemies of the Imperium. He despises the image of the Inquisitor as one who sends in troops while staying in the rear lines away from danger.

I'm thinking black and gold for the imbellishments will fit him well.
