Abaddon the Despoiler build WiP

Abbadon yet again great work on this grieve. The trimming came out excellent and that skull I think is the perfect size for it.

I have it so I am happy with the placements, will be gluing it all in place and then I have the trim at the back to do, then am going to work on the skull. Once I am happy with that, I will start on the thigh. Only to do it all over again lol.

Okay, here we go again.

First off, here is the front all glued in place, I have raise the skull a bit, and added more spikes to the trim on the top.


And here is the back, that still needs a bit of clean up



I have brought in more foam from the shed, I Have also ordered more, as I am down to my last 8 tiles. I have used 10 already... geez! Tomorrow I will be starting on the skull, I think this is going to be the point where I start to question myself as to why I am doing this, lol. But I shall persevere!

Looking great so far!

But a very good tip; Don't use the puzzle to join sheets together! The texture will show through the paint, no matter how well you spackle it, leaving a zip-lock shape in your part! Cutting off the puzzle bits and joining two straight edges is MUCH easier to hide.

I have 1 puzzle seam, on my chest piece (from my beginnings in the foam world) thinking it would be stronger... but a straight cut is just as strong and 20 times easier to sand down and cover up. You can hide puzzle seams... but it'll take a bunch of coats and twice the sanding.

Looking very nice, and you seem to be steaming along quickly.

Definitely have to add to the growing opinion about the puzzle pieces: they help hold pieces together for sure, but they're not worth dealing with. Cut'em and either use 45 degree cuts (allowing for extra on one part of the seam)  or just join them sans puzzle bits. I'm a fan of the 45 degree cuts myself.

Thanks for the advice, I will take that on board for the rest of the build and make it sans puzzle pieces.

Here is another couple pictures of the skull. It wasn't as brain destroying as I thought it would be. It still needs to be cleaned up, but here it is.





I think \I will make the other boot and start on the other grieve, before the weekend. when, weather permitting, I will do the sanding.

I have done the basic thigh, got a few pistons to make for it and some trim. So, no pics as yet, soon as I start doing add-ons

Thanks! Yeah will be a lot of clean up work, but I have sanding tools of power!!! and I have files and such. I do hope it will look crazy good, am going to sourse some small skulls for the adornments of the thigh, making a foam little skull will really make me question my sanity
