Abaddon the Despoiler build WiP

Well, the Talon got me interested in a full suit. Doubled with the fact I have only found one other Abaddon costume ever made.
(I say costume, rather than suit, because, although it is well made for the materials used, it is not a full suit build.)

So, since I started with the Talon of Horus, and Drach'nyen is going to need some serious thought into it. I decided to make a pauldron. I used the SM Game Sidonus pauldron by Shiney as a base, almost done with the pepping part, few more bits to slot in before pics. Soon, though.

Okay, I have a dilemma. I have done the Sidonus pauldron, but I am at odds.

I found two designs for the "eye" pauldron, here they are.

Just a little update, I hurt my finger and have had to put things on hold. But am better now, and I have foam on it's way! I have decided to ditch the card pepakura for this build, and go right into foam. I also got a new dremel tool. So I will be able to do all the details I want right to the foam.

I might actually remake the talon too, just start over, now I have a clue what I am after.

Injuries everywhere! I dislocated my shoulder last week. At least you're feeling better now.. I almost want to work in foam now too.

I made one pauldron from card, but It just doesn't look right for what I want, so I am going to use the foam, cause it looks so much easier to just add a bit here and glue a bit there, trim bits there and done, instead of find another pep file and alter the original by adding that there and this bit here....

Plus I can shape the foam much better than I can with card. I don't want to be piling on bondo to get the right shape.

Do you know if fibreglass things can be used on foam? I have a few of the smaller containers of resin, and a big container of bondo. Would it work to harden the foam or just melt it?

I am not too sure, I will have to look in on that, I might test it on a bit, when I am fibreglassing my shredder costume. I will make some test pieces and see what happens lol.

I just mixed up a tiny amount of resin and spread it on a chunk from an old foam tile. It's curing now, so I'll get back to you when it's done if it did or didn't melt it. I'm not even sure what kind of foam it is, it's a few years old.

I am sure you would have seen a reaction pretty quickly, if it was going to melt it. I do hope it works. Bondo would be the best finish for a metal substitute.

Well, I couldn't exactly sit by and watch it. I had to stick them in a safe, dry spot outside so the melting snow wouldn't touch them, and if it was inside I would have made the whole place stink for a few days. It seemed okay when it was done, a bit flexible still but it was only one light coat on a small piece. It didn't adhere well, though, so I guess the surface might need to be prepared before use

I have the foam, making a start to the feet tonight I plan on getting the feet and shins done, so I can make the stilts I will inevitably need to wear the things lol.

I have the first boot cut out and roughly assembled, It is just held together with pins, nothing has been glued yet, as I wanted to make sure everything was going to fit right lol.





Tomorrow, after work, I plan on a trip to the local DIY store to get me some stilt making gear, and a heat gun to form the foam better. ...... and anything else I see that I will need lol
