Jeff and I are considering doing a Crane Clan samurai and shugenja for our not-40k-comfortable costumes for DC!

Kommissar, and others, those foam armour techniques...How hard/rigid is the resulting armour once everything said and done? Eventually I will want to convert my Fantasy Inquisitor/Witch Hunter into an Ordo Heriticus Inquisitor and one of the touches I'd like to add is some body armour...Kommissar's chest armour is pretty much what I'd want ;-)

its got more flexibility than plastics or metal,
but the NCR vest i made is a little inflexible around my core torso,
if i wanted to crouch or duck, i would  have the wind pushed out of me a little.

in terms of difficulty working with it?
i have big powertools now, so a bandsaw and belt sander tame it very well.

a pair of scissors or a craft knife wont be your best friend in this circumstance.

as for the glue, hot glue is best and the foam would rather tear than let go of the other surface you've glued it too. so it's as good as the materials your gluing can possibly be [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

i built my vest in a day of work. and since this isn't a reproduction of GW material, i can easily be commissioned to make another, with a few changes to the shape if desired.

it's fun to work with too! so i'd encourage anyone to try it themselves before taking me up on my offer.

And my most recent creation, this 1872 ballgown, made for Frozen In Time this past weekend

Thanks for the info [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /> As for that offer...It's interesting nevertheless. I have time to do a lot of things, but barely enough time to do everything [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /> Nor all of the tools, for that matter...

the foam is very poseable.  at least the stuff i'm using.

Forgot to list the DUKE from GI joe that I have as well.

i only use hot glue and scissors.  Its easier to use than steel, which is what all the mandos are made from.

I've finally gotten around to collecting and uploading some pictures of my larp costumes...

The first costume is the one I use the most at the larp I'm a gm at. I play an alchymist with a fondness for dice games and his own brews, but a dislike for elves...

The next costume is a arrogant nobleman, but I don't use that often, usually only when the guy with the camera (Who usually plays the local lord) is unable to attend...

I have ideas for a few other costumes, but most of them haven't even gotten to the rough sketch stage yet, but I do have a lich almost entirely planned out...

Hehe, yeah, It stated when I discovered a skull mask with a moveable jaw for halloween at Zagone Studios, and then it just sorta snowballed from there [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' />

I haven't gotten my hands on the mask yet, but I'm looking foreward to it...
