Just for fun - my old Ultramarine buld
« on: September 21, 2013, 11:38:00 AM »
Several years ago, back in 2005/2006 I deceided to build a space marine costume for halloween. Now this was in the days before easily available pepakura cad models and the only builds I'd seen were made out of fibreglass, so I decided to give it a go using expanded polystyrene, foam, wire, cardboard, papier mache, glue, duct tape and lots of paint.

Helmet

First, I took an old cycle helmet

Made a wire frame

Attached the wire to the helmet using hot glue and duct tape

Added more wire

Filled out with cardboard and duct tape

Added more cardboard

Finished with cable tidy tubes and pages from the Financial Times

Pauldrons

First I cut several semicircles from expanded polystyrene foam

Next, glued together

Smoothed out using a rasp file
