I tackled the backpack balls on sunday, and instead of using the snake-like pattern that was included with the peps, I decided to waste a little more material, and make my life a whole lot easier. If anyone wants to try this out to cut/assemble the backpack balls, take a look at how I've laid out the unfold. It will fit on a 22 x 22 piece of EVA floor tile. Made glueing and shaping very, very easy.
I do still have a fair bit of sanding to do, but expect them to turn out really nice.

I should have the balls mounted on the backpack somewhere this weekend, but in the meantime, I worked on the shoulder innards and rigging; results.

Looks good dude, but I'm just wondering whether or not your helmet is a bit pointy looking in the forehead area? Might be the light, might be me...

Light + plastidip. At the very middle where it rolls back to the other side, the light that's to the front/right of me just stops catching. Camera making it 10x worse than it actually is

If there's one thing about these characters that really make them stand out from anything else imho, it's the imposing shoulders. Didn't want to compromise on those at all, but I will need to work the holes in the torso piece to get more arm room under those shoulders. I can mount them ever so slightly higher, but that will impair visibility to my left greatly.

awesome shoulders! For the torso...how many coats of Gesso does it take to achieve that? What's the density / texture like? Hard / smooth / still has flex?

The bottom of the torso has 1-2 coats and the top half has probably 4 or 5. It remains flexible but loses some of that flex with each added coat... There is alot of cracking going on in the top part of the torso as I've been handling it alot lately, but as you can see it's very fine and hardly noticeable. Will not show thru once it's plastidipped.

A few new pictures...
The mounting bolts for the shoulders. These bolt into aluminum strapping going around the torso.
And the backpack now has balls. Big balls.

The proportions look spot on. Good luck getting through a door!
I am always amazed with the speed at which foam builds can go together and the results you get. I have been wondering if I could not have produced foam suits faster than on a vac table.

I'm about 200-250 hours deep right now. And 'reproduction' would be the same quantity of work all over again. Once your vac forming equipment is ready you can make multiple suits in a day...
