Inquisitor and Redemptionists
« on: August 30, 2013, 12:40:00 AM »
Me, my son and his college roommate went to Gen Con Indianapolis this year as an Inquisitor with his two Redemptionist acolytes. We took 1st place in the group division of the costume contest and 2nd overall.

Here are some links to videos about the gear I made for the costumes

I love the flaming iron-rod scon on his head. That is class.

Thanks, did you check out the videos? It's all a lot cooler when you see it run, especially the eviscerator.

OMG!!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!
HOW DID I MISS THIS?!?!!?!

Awesome work! the use of the fencing is bloody brillaint!! I love the flame effect! I used that same Idea on the Cannoness back pack you can see it in some of the photos and videos from Dragoncon (guess I should do a photo shoot/post about that armor build)

the one I used was a single sheet of silk, I like the one you used much better. where did you get it if you don't mind my asking?

And you're Eviscerator is epic! the power and speed are amazing! My chjainsord is weak and pittifull by compairison!

I think you could have taken 1st if your son and friend didn't wear sneakers on stage.... [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' />

Agian awesome work and I would love to see a build thread in the Inq sections (hint*hint*)

Thanks Finnlock,
Here is a link to the flame I used. It was about the biggest battery powered one I could find. After seeing how its made though I may try to scratch build a bigger one for the next time I take it out. Possibly to do a costume for myself that's a closer match to The Redeemer.

Yes the shoes generated a backstage argument. I tried to get them to go barefoot when I realised that they had the tennis shoes on but they wouldn't do it. (They both had boots but forgot to wear them)

Not sure what I could do for a "build thread" I would not mind writing something up but I am unsure what I could post (now that its finished) that would be interesting to anyone.

When you look around, see if the systems say what voltage they are internally (for example they might say "12V adapter included").  I have a lantern that is "outlet only" that actually uses a 12V adapter.  This is important because this:

puts out 12V.  Will have to keep a stockpile of batteries with you, but it allows you to expand your options.

As far as a walkthrough you could always post pics of the things you made with a breakdown of how you did it.  One big thing about OC is we love learning from others and sharing what we know.

That eviscerator is phenomenal!  All the props are really well done.  Nice work.

I cut out the battery mounting made into the flame cauldron to trim the weight. The "Mark I" was VERY top heavy and wobbled around terribly, I replaced it with a 4x D cell battery pack from radio shack and mounted it under the backpack tanks.
