Just FYI, most of the corsets have lace up backing which allows you to control how tight it is. This is handly when adjusting for the layers underneath.

The one I liked to is a lace up in the back, which will be or should be covered by the backpack.

Just an update: it seems I'm stuck waiting for the nerf guns. I can't really get started without them, so the other supplies being here isn't particularly useful. That's how it works though, the most useful item of a group will arrive last [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' />

So, every single item is here... minus the nerf guns. some items took forever, but they've all arrived. including all the parts for the plasma pistol. (minus the aquarium tubing I'm getting locally)

As it turns out, there was some sort of malfunction with my order. Staying positive, that is all ironed out and I can re-order them. I was thinking of using this as an opportunity to re-examine the toy guns I use as my base. I'm wondering if there are cheaper options that may work better, or just a item that might be better looking. If anybody has any ideas let me know [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

I'll probably order the ones I choose here in the next few days, most likely over the weekend.

A further idea for you.

A week or two ago I met a woman who had made herself an inquisitor costume with SoB style shoulder armour.  When I asked her how she had made the shoulder armour, she replied that she had simply bought a cheap black plastic bucket and cut the shapes out of this.  As the plastic was already suitably curved, she only had to modify it slightly before backing it with a layer of camping foam to give it the right thickness and bulk.  It seemed like an excellent solution to what could have been a difficult problem.

I heard the word corset and thought I'd come investigate (I make them for $$) - with corsets, the lacing gives you a lot of leeway on sizing, and fabric does squish lots! Don't worry about ordering one a size up, as you'll want a ~2" gap between the backs anyway. You can loosen it to put it on and then tighten as much as you like with no problems [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

Also, can't wait to see how this build goes, hope the rest of your stuff arrives soon!

Don't forget though that despite SoB torso armour having the appearance of a corset, it is still supposed to be armour.  As such it should really not look like fabric of leather at all, which is why I suggested shaped pieces of plastic attached to a fabric backing.  As long as you don't fluctuate too much in size, I don't see why you couldn't simply make torso armour which was the correct size for you and which would therefore need no adjustment.  If you made it in the way I suggested above, you would simply need to put on something resembling a fairly rigid waistcoat which would close at the front with the zip.  The other parts would then be clipped on.

As someone who wears armour on a fairly regular basis I can assure you that you really want to have it as close to the correct size as possible without needing to adjust it all the time.  If it will only be you wearing it you may as well make it the right size to start off with.
