I showed this shot before, but I didn't say that you can see some more of the repairs I had to do to the collar...look at the back of it, ugly!

Anyway, all that adds up to this!

For comparision here is the chest protector I was going to use. You can see the coverage difference. The silver sharpie line is where the corset would sit.

Chest protector strap system. It's grey because I had been spray painting the piece and the straps where bright white.

The issues if you use the chest protector and the reason I didn't was you have a lot more area to cover and it's less "armor" looking IMO.

But you can more easily put it on yourself. You'd have to change the way the back pack attacjes ( easy enough and I have done it for the other SoB's in the group photos from Dragon Con) and you have to make the collar and shoulders a seprate unit.

Anyway, that's it in a nut shell....

Thanks Finnlock!

a lot of those pictures are very helpful. The "mannequin armor" works really well. I'm mostly worried about fit and how thin the plastic is. I agree it has better coverage, but I'm worried about being able to shape it enough to fit. :/  I can buy the chest protector in close to my size, and it seems more sturdy as well. I'll think about it, you've given me a lot to think about!

I really like the detail you put onto the cups of the cannoness piece, by the way.

The Chest protector is thinner and more flexable then the mannequine. The mannequin is much more sturdy in terms of thickness and over all flex, moch more like armor.
I don't know your dimentions so I can speak to making it fit, but I had to do a lot of heat shaping to get it right. Please also don't forget I cut a lot of it away so that tiny waist line went bye-bye.

The cup size might be a factor, but they seem to be around a B to C cup size.

As for the detail...you know guys are going to be looking ;P and the mini's leave a lot to be desiried for detail and the art work shows a lot of variations on.

I have a largish chest measurement (38") so I wear a 40" band. in that size, I'm a C cup in that size. (40C)  that equates to about 36 DD in cup size (but doesn't look like a DD, larger chest - but I don't want to go into all the details of bra sizes etc here.) My concern is that if the mannequin is hard to form, and already too small, it might make things difficult.

What sort of measurements does your mannequin have?

True, gazes seem to end up there :/

Okay, the tee shirt one might not work and with out anyone to help you put it on, you're better off this way I think.

Here is one of the EVA foam collars I made for the SoB's from D*con. Because they fly in I bring the armor down with me ( ain't I sweet?)
you can see the way I made to collar and shoulders as one unit to just slip over the head. it dose not attach to anything.

I made this to cover as much space as possable so it looked like armor.

The others I curved the shoulder armor more with the heat gun befor mounting. I forgot on this one and was to far along to go back and do it

I dropped the back of the collar more to meet up with the back pack so even thought it isn't really seen it's covered. I also used a bit of velcro to help keep the collar in place. The other piece of velcro is on the back pack,

The collar itself is oval and you can see where the shoulders come inside the collar to add stablity.

Underside of the collar...

You can see I just hotglued the shoulders righ to the collar and used the extra leangth of the shoulders to give support

For the backpack I just used a criss cross to secure it. It's ment to ride under the corset so it's hidden. But here it is over to show what I mean.

The clips, they are whitew because I "misplaced" the 1st strap I made last year and they where all I had on hand.
You can see the other set of clips from when I used this backpack with the Canoness collar.

Thankfully the collar covers the white clips up.

And the short from the front with the collar. You could not put the straps under the chest piece and put the backpack on last and it would be mostly covered up. Just run a purity seal down the middle to cover the straps.

Hope this helps some.

Thread is not dead, you're fine Finnlock [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' />

I've just been waiting for my flamer supplies to come in. My plasticard, LED lights (All Electronics is one good place to buy that stuff) and a mystery FedEx package is in. (that I have yet to be able to pick up... I got lost trying to find their warehouse [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' />  First fedex package since I got to Guam, and they don't deliver to my place because they don't want to ride an elevator or something.) When all the parts get here, I can start putting them together and posting photos, but now it seems like beating a dead horse to keep posting about stuff I haven't done yet :/

My original idea had been inferno pistols, but scrapped that because they are supposed to be really rare. Working with the el wire for a plasma pistol sounds like a lot of fun, especially if I could make my own weapon pattern. like the Septimatus Pattern plasma pistol. That was my second plan, actually, but then I was inspired by Finnlock's fllamer. (darn you! lol) Because I've already committed to the flamers (and bought stuff) I'm going to stick with them. I still think it's neat. I'm still considering backpack ideas, as well as ideas for my armor, but feel like I should get something solid completed before too much speculation. besides, looking at some of the other threads had me thinking about a chaos sister, and that's heresy.  [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/14623/129/emo/01459939e94f5adb33facf235d2e7c00.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='01459939e94f5adb33facf235d2e7c00.gif' />

Edit - can we rename this thread to something appropriate for a build thread, since we've changed spots? Maybe "June's Seraphim Build", or something appropriate.

June - that septimus pattern plasma pistol looks rad.  It has my vote.  But I understand if you go with something different.  Always time for more weapons, in the future.

It's funny Clothar,

Just last night I was thinking that there's no rule saying I can't have a plasma pistol and a hand flamer, one in each hand... they don't have to match. I have most of the necessary parts, just need to order el wire (I'm thinking aqua... different, and I love that color) and some red LEDs for bouncing light into the vents from the inside of the gun. I'll have to post some sketches later  [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' />

yeah, one of each weapon is a great idea!  The aqua plasma sounds cool.  Would the red LEDS be for the plasma gun barrel or flamer?  Either way, sounds like you are full of good ideas.
