Blood Pact Armor
« on: September 06, 2012, 03:47:00 PM »
After more than a year with just a German flak-vest I finally decided to add some more armor to my costume.
Where to start from here?

A new mask is already made and a third one is planned, now to get some more protection for the limbs, I decided to make a bracer!
After cutting out some cardboard to make a rough shape, I rebuild it with 2 layers of KobraCast.

A layer of Worbla and some details followed.

Next came a plate for the back of my hand and the straps to keep it in place..

It will get painted like my helmet, red base coat and bronze for the details.

Plans for the future: another bracer, shoulder guards, new mask, thigh-plates....

That's some very nice work.  Can you expand on the Worbla?

Expand on it? What exactly do you mean?

After I had the shape of the KobraCast bracer, I drew the outlines of it on a piece of Worbla, added a bit to be sure it fits and to cover the edges too. Then I warmed it up with a heating pistol and carefully pulled the Worbla over the bracer. Letting it cool down for a while, I added some details with straps of even more of the stuff to add that chaotic design.
Basically just worked with as I felt like would look best.

Sorry, I meant expand on how Worbla is used.  For example does it require a heat gun to form it or can you use boiling water or steam.

Aaaaah, okay, now I got it. Well, I used a heat gun again on a slightly higher setting than on KobraCast to make it more flexible. You need to warm it up to 90
