Pirate guardsman

Hey everybody, once again this is MalleusIST.

Now here's an idea I've been kicking around, and I was wondering what others thought of this.  Esentially it's the combination of a pirate and Imp. Guardsman.

The idea came from a planet I helped create for my DH campaign.  Kinda picture a planet that's very steampunkish with lasguns and such, but keep the outfits of The Golden Age of Piracy.

If anyone's got any ideas, I welcome 'em.  If just to hear what people thought.

uhm.. so basically a Rogue trader then? [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' />

unless... if you go for a vostroyian first born imperial guardsman, in which case the steampunk look is very prevalant.

a Rogue trader is not a soldier though, (pirates arent either btw) but they often have very ship like fashion styles, and a steampunk sort of flair to them (with added skulls and such, like any good member of the imperium) you should look up on them..

an imperial guardsman and a pirate are a bad mix, but an imperial citizen with a pirate flair would certainly be a rogue trader.

I'll agree with Kommissar here, pirates and IG is not a particular good mix, flak armor and large shirts just don't go together. You could however base the uniforms of the guardsmen on the British (or whatever nation you fancy) army from that time period.
The PotC movies should have a lot of reference material in that regard...

@ Captain Thomas

That's honestly where this idea came from.  Particularly in regards to the fact they really don't have alot of armor.

For those that remember the previous Guard Codex.  This is the easiest way to sum how they looked on the battlefield.

Warrior Weapons
Hardened Fighters
Veterans
Chem-Inhalers (rum is a mighty strong moral booster)
and Heavy Weapon Squads.
