Nerf Bolter, Finnlock style....
« on: March 21, 2010, 03:38:00 AM »
Okay, well the right bolt pistol is being painted now, 1st few layers of paint are drying as I type...

New side project, Nerf Bolter and If I can pull that off, then it is Nerf STORM BOLTER, yes I said (typed) STORM BOLTER!

This is an idea I have been kicking around for a bit and I desided to see if I can't make it work and post a how to for everyone becouse I think it'd be cool as hell to have a convention full of them

It's not just a plastic card cover of the clip, although that would probably work too.. would not look as nice in the end

This is probably going to take a long time to finish, need to make sure it works at all stages of the build, but off to a good start.

This is quite an interesting project =)
When I worked on my own Nerf Recon I took it completely apart, painted it and put it all together again. It's one of the nice things about nerf weapons, theyre made so you can take the apart without any sort of special tools...

When you're finished with the stormbolter are you going to build a matching suit of terminator armor? =P

Yes, I plan on building out the body with the same stuff I made the bolt pistols out of.
The tricky part will be making the cocking lever still function and not interfere with the trigger.

Becouse I plan on making the gun about 3" longer and have a fake barrel housing the cocking lever needs to slide independently of the front assembly, I have an idea how to do this that is quite sneaky if it works... I need to take one of them apart to see.

Be careful when you take it apart. This particular gun have a lot of springs inside and they aren't really attached to anything so they might jump out when you open it.
The big one used to fire the dart can be really annoying when you put it back together again...

This is the plan..

One grip, one trigger fires both barrels.

The rest is cosmetic...

That is absolutely freaking badass.  I think you straight out win 40k gunmaking.

Does it (they?) still work? And isn't it a bit heavy holding in one hand?

That's actually pretty cool. I'm glad Nerf is getting back to the good designs. For a while there they were really starting to suck but lately they've really turned around.

No, that isn't mine, it's what I'm shooting for. The guy who made it had no idea what warhammer 40k was.
