**********************COMPLETION UPDATE***********************

<<<Original Thread>>>

As it reads, the project is, for the most part, completed, and I'll be moving on to other artistic endeavors. It astonishes me how it feels like a great burden has been lifted from my conscious, and yet, my life's plate is already filled up again. I don't know if I'll ever get around to doing another costume like this again, but if I do I'll let you all know about it.

You've all been very kind, polite, and encouraging to me throughout this project's lengthy development, and I'm very happy to be a part of this growing community. I hope to serve as an example to costumers here seeking greater challenges in their hobby. I hope I can contribute my experience to everyone trying to conquer the beast that is heavy armor building.

What really sticks this out from comparable projects is all the little details. And by that I mean e.g. your "combat face", the dirt smeared on your head, and every inch of the surface that screams "someone really paid attention to me!" [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' />

I do have a question. You said you used "joint compound" instead of bondo. You mean this stuff? Isn't that to brittle and would break easily? I mean, for example, are you able to sit down or would it crush your "diaper"? And what kind of joint compound did you use, silicon-based or acryl-based?

Most of the surface area under the paint is still fiberglass. The dimples and cracks and other little things were coated with the joint compound. When it's thick and well-adhered it's actually pretty durable.

Last time I saw your topic was at the early stages of building. Now I happened to find a picture of it finished and it left me speechless. O___o absolutely stunning job bro, well worth all the years of making!!

I must ask tho, why is it going to be your only costume? T___T

I'm too busy and too poor for such things at the moment. D:

I plan to get back into the hobby at some point though.

I blamed Djin and his new chainsword for dragging me back, but this suit I spied on FB is also partly to blame. Simply amazing work man.
