... Anything that could be of use to someone clothing a guardsman. Suggest your own favorite links below, and I'll add them to the OP.

Tutorials and Tips
http://www.costumes.org/ (http://www.costumes.org/)  Hard to navigate, but it is a huge, huge directory of amazing costuming information.

http://www.costumingtips.org/ (http://www.costumingtips.org/)  Exactly what it says on the tin.

http://www.trsrockin.com/cosplay_howto.html (http://www.trsrockin.com/cosplay_howto.html)  A beginner's guide to cosplay.

http://www.cosplaysupplies.com/tutorials.php?id=3 (http://www.cosplaysupplies.com/tutorials.php?id=3) Wonderflex, a thermoplastic, and it's use in prop construction.

http://amethyst-angel.com/armormaking.html (http://amethyst-angel.com/armormaking.html) Armormaking for the fiberglass phobic. Useful for Vostroyans, Stormtroopers, and officers.

http://bolter.blog.com/ (http://bolter.blog.com/) Kai, who made that amazing Sister of Battle costume for his wife, runs this blog. It has instructions on how to make a bolt pistol, among other things.

http://www.threadbanger.com/threadheads/episode/THR_20070608 (http://www.threadbanger.com/threadheads/episode/THR_20070608) Tutorial specifically on how to take in dress shirts, but it applies to almost every other kind of garment. Also shows you how to make a dress form that fits you exactly for about $5.

Stores
http://www.sovietarmystuff.com/ (http://www.sovietarmystuff.com/)  Soviet army surplus. Amazing, amazing stuff for both Krieg and your average guardsman.

http://www.gijen.com/ (http://www.gijen.com/)  General army surplus

http://www.a2armory.com/ (http://www.a2armory.com/)  A variety of reproductions from the Dark Ages to WW2. Could be useful for inquisitorial characters, too.

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx...lickid=redirect (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=23330&clickid=redirect) Another source of plastic.

http://www.smooth-on.com/ (http://www.smooth-on.com/) Casting supplies, mostly silicone and resin.

http://www.chefwear.com/store/item.asp?ITE...EPARTMENT_ID=5& (http://www.chefwear.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=101&DEPARTMENT_ID=5&) Good for tunics!

http://www.sciplus.com/ (http://www.sciplus.com/) Good for a huge variety of props, especially Inquisition and Adeptus Mechanicus.

Heresy

Remember, suggest your favorite links!

EDIT: moved from IG to general costuming, because most of these links apply to at least two sections and there isn't enough information here yet to warrant Useful Link threads in all sections.

Some stores I've found useful in the past:

Uncle Sam's Army Navy Deals (http://armynavydeals.com) Pretty big site, though mostly full of US military stuff from the 1960's onward, as well as some police gear and minor European country militaria. Still, wide selection, and definitely worth a look.

IMA-USA (http://ima-usa.com) Good for more wartime-era stuff. Mostly reproductions, but that's really a bad thing. Somewhat pricey. Their mail-order catalogue seems to have a wider selection than their online store. Also, they sell authentic, deactivated Panzerfausts. Holy shit.

1944 Militaria (http://www.1944militaria.com/) Expensive leik whoa, but perfect if you want some specific Wehrmacht item. Great for DKoK and Steel Legion cosplayers, I'd wager.

The History Bunker (http://www.thehistorybunker.co.uk/acatalog/shop_index.html) Like 1944 Militaria, but not limited to only WWII German equipment. Has everything from Civil War Union uniforms to the gear of a WWI Tommy. Less useful for that fact that the site seems more gears towards making specially tailored uniforms, but still, a useful link.

Epic Militaria (http://www.epicmilitaria.com/) Site with a wide selection of WWII reproduction gear. I'd check it out.

Aquilla, but yeah i can understand the frustration, however the etched brass are over priced and on the small side for what you'd want to use them for.

First post for me. This site I found sells lots of gothic wear, but I don't know if you will think it's appropriate for 40k costuming. Maybe for a fancy Inquisitor or Adept. Another thing to note is that it is expensive:

Rubber Runners & Mats (http://www.rubbercal.com/LP_Rubber_Runners_and_Mats_2.html)

For all your rubber and mat needs; easily cut for "soft" armor. You do need to send a specific order on their site, however, and they'll contact  you via your preferred method (phone, fax, E-mail).

Not exactly what I'm used to when I buy online, but I have yet to find a place that sells ribbed rubber like this.

Epic Armoury (http://www.epicarmoury.com/)
(Note, this links just leads to their catalogue. Find them on Facebook for more info)

Danish LARP manufacturer - as far as I knowm, they ship to the US (if not, I can get the stuff and send it - of bring it to Dragon*Con, if you're going *G*). They've recently done a new series, called Dark Moon (back of their catalogue), which contains some really good stuff for Warhammer 40k. Witness their "chainsaw"

They have a "vibro glaive" that seems pretty inspired by the Grey Knights' weapon, a riot shield that would work great for anyone going for an Adeptus Arbites costumes and a "vibro sword" that's quite clearly a powersword. Plus, some neat props, mainly for fantasy, like a small, brass telescope in a leather pouch. Their weapons are a bit on the pricey side, but very good quality.

I have been on this site for way to many hours the last couple of days and I saw that many (primarily the german fanatics) use the swedish uniform as a base for their imperial guard costumes.

M90 is the name of the swedish camoflage. So search for swedish m90 uniform if you want to find some closer to you.

Here are som links to swedish sites.

For the week of September 12, 2011, KMart is having a sale on 6-pack of foam flooring tiles with borders, in the USA.

These are most excellent for making armor.

Regularly $19.99, on sale for $16.99.

As of August 7, 2011, Halloween supplies are arriving at AC Moores and Michaels.  This includes styrofoam skulls of assorted sizes.

HIE THEE TO MONOLITHIC CRAFT STORES FOR SKULLS
For those who saw my chains at D'con, I got them and the skulls at Michaels.  I sprayed the chains with Rust Primer and the skulls with a beige acrylic paint (Army Painter Bone for the gamers) and then washed with a really thinned brown wash (recipe by request).  The medium size ones work well for human skulls and the large for Marine skulls.

The link above is for New Rock's UK distributor, hence the $90 shipping.  They are actually based out of North Carolina.  Here's their webiste:  http://www.newrockboots.com/ (http://www.newrockboots.com/) that only has $16.00 shipping for US.

I've used the pellets in the past for making custom vamp fangs...It forms really nice and as long as you don't mind working quickly and with rather hot materials it's not that bad of a medium...And they aren't kidding about the stuff losing it's structural integrity at about 100F...I forgot a bottle in the car last summer; when I opened it up I had a single mass of material instead of the little beads...

http://hotwirefoamfactory.com/Foam-Coat-Glue-Foam/ (http://hotwirefoamfactory.com/Foam-Coat-Glue-Foam/) -> The 'Foam Coat' and 'Bounce' mixed 1:2 with 1/3 cup of water should work GREAT for weapons from insulation foam, possibly armor (untested on EVA) but gives a sandable, paintable, literally rock hard surface.. A rock, sculpted from white packing styrofoam coated in that mix lets a full-grown man stand on it.

http://www.industrialpolymers.com/product-...ist/styrospray/ (http://www.industrialpolymers.com/product-list/styrospray-product-list/styrospray/) - This is still researched from my end, but it made a pretty impressive looking Iron Man suit and comes recommended pretty well. Again, un-known on EVA.

Found the above after much trawling for supplies. Not used yet but as based in the Uk, was struggling to find stockists of half the items mentioned by people. I was used by the customer services they offer that include metal and resin casting, laser cutting, mould making and various other though some are a tad expensive :/

Been looking at the site and it's guides for mould making, model making and such are really straight forward and even advertise courses and freelance makers in the UK. Quite good [img]http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

If anyone has used before let me know, did a searc prior to post and not found so happy costuming.

Warhammer fabric of Aquila and Chaos symbols:

http://www.spoonflower.com/shop?type=&view=designs&shop=fabric&q=warhammer&x=0&y=0

and

Latin manuscript fabric, also available in black, white, parchment, and red:

http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1358706

Could be good for Repentia, or chapter loincloth.

+++

Spoonflower will make any fabric design you want, you just have to submit it and hand  over money.  Every now and then, they cull trademarked art (such as Dr Who), so get it while the getting is good.  Alternately, design something better and have them print it.

I have heard that their inks & dyes can be known to wash off quickly, so I would suggest making something from their company that wouldn't get thrown in the washing machine often.
